Inspection Solutions for PipelinesInner Diameter (ID) CorrosionID corrosion mapping is simplified with the user-friendly interface of AMDATA's IntraSpect imaging system. The corrosion mapping software, together with a motion control subsystem, one of AMDATA's automated or manual scanners, and, possibly, scanner tracks, gives the user a powerful, accurate system to perform corrosion mapping. The corrosion data can then be directly processed using the RStreng algorithm (see below) for industry acceptable results of the pipe integrity. |

Outer Diameter (OD) CorrosionAMDATA offers an add-on package to the IntraSpect system to ultrasonically map OD corrosion. The add-on package provides hardware and software for OD corrosion mapping. The hardware consists of a sled for the 5080 automated scanner, housing the OD corrosion mapping transducer and a water couplant system designed for the inspection. The software adds a C-Scan gate to track the OD corrosion and compensates the pipe thickness for the OD corrosion pits. The corrosion data can then be directly processed using the RStreng algorithm (see below) for industry acceptable results of the pipe integrity. |

RStrengThe RStreng algorithm is used to evaluate the remaining strength of a corroded pipe. AMDATA licenses the RStreng algorithm from Technical Toolboxes developed by the Pipeline Research Council International, Inc. (PRCI). The IntraSpect system reports the remaining strength of the pipe using three methods:
By incorporting the RStreng algorithms directly into the IntraSpect system, the exact corrosion data is used, resulting in more accurate pipe integrity calculations. |
